Puppy killed with plastic bag in Littlehampton

A 20-week-old puppy was suffocated in the back garden of a Littlehampton home.

The Jack Russell's owner returned to her Falkland Avenue house after a shopping trip, at about 1pm on June 1, to find the dog with a plastic bag tied to its head with an elastic band.

Sgt Peter Allan, of Littlehampton police said that the incident was "particularly nasty and upsetting".

He added that the house, which is close to Southfields Recreation Ground, had been plagued by youths acting in an anti-social manner in the weeks leading up to the attack, and that an attempt to break into

garden shed had been made the previous day.

"I would urge anyone with information to call PC Liz Nelson on 0845 60 70 999, quoting reference WA2/052/34/09."
