SUSSEX Express Reader Anthony Mayo sent us this photo of a flowering cherry tree which fell over during the high winds today.

It was planted in Rose Walk, Newhaven, to mark the Queen’s Coronation in 1953 and was donated by the street’s residents.

Damage has also been caused to Seaford Lifeguards Headquarters.

The gales damaged windows, blew down radio communications aerial and damaged the weather station sensors.

Repairs are estimated at about £800.
