Quick-thinking hero pulls woman from Beeding River

A PENSIONER was pulled out of the River Adur by a passer-by who spotted her shoes on the bank.

The elderly woman was rescued from the river, near Beeding and Bramber Bridge, at 5.15pm last Sunday. Her rescuer had been walking along the riverbank when he saw the shoes.

He looked into the water after becoming suspicious. Police said the woman was treated by paramedics before being taken to Worthing Hospital, where she was still being looked after last Tuesday.
