The robbery took place at Poundfield Stores in Poundfield Road, Crowborough, shortly after 11.30am.

Police say a man threatened the shop keeper with a large knife and demanded money from the till before leaving the scene.

Shortly afterwards a member of the public took a photo of the suspect.

No one was hurt in either incident.

The suspect is a white man, 5ft 10in, with light brown shaved hair and was wearing a red and black or dark grey jacket with dark trousers and grey, red-striped Adidas trainers.

He removed the jacket, revealing a blue hoody, as he left the scene.

Detective Sergeant Dave Tye said, “This was a lone incident and thanks to a quick-thinking member of the public we have images of the suspect which should help identify him.”
