RAFA fundraiser to celebrate D-Day

FORTY talented musicians from the Royal Air Forces Association will play a concert in St Augustine's Church next month.

The President's Band, formed in 2001, will celebrate the 65th anniversary of D-Day on Saturday, June 6 at 7pm in the church on Cooden Drive.

The musicians are from varied occupations, including ex-RAF and military band members and music teachers.

They are directed by Peter Stockdale MBE, who was appointed bandmaster of the Central Band of the Royal Air Force in 1993, and received his MBE in 1996 for services to the RAF and local community.

He retired from the RAF in 2002.

Admission to the concert is by ticket only, available at 10 from the RAFA Albatross Club, Marina Arcade, or from the Observer Offices on Sackville Road.
