Rail fares setto rise but adiscount willbe frozen

Southern has announced its average fare rise, which comes into effect on Friday January 2, will be 2.1 per cent.

Regulated fares for 2015, which include season tickets, have been capped by the Government at the July 2014 rate of 2.5 per cent, meaning that this year, no season tickets will be increased by more than 2.5 per cent.

The cheapest Southern £5 Advance fares will remain frozen for the eighth consecutive year and many off peak Gatwick Express fares will be frozen at 2014 prices with additional discounts online.
