RAIL FARES TO BE CUT

RAIL fares on the two-minute journey between Seaford and Bishopstone are to be cut by a quarter.

Southern Trains will reduce the fares from 2 single and 2.10 return to 1.50 and 1.60 respectively in September.

MP Norman Baker pressured the train operator's managing director Chris Burchell after hearing concerns from residents.

Mr Baker said: 'I am delighted to see that Southern has seen sense over this matter. This rail link is an important one within the constituency, and one that serves a great number of pensioners who simply cannot afford to be paying extortionate prices.'
