Rain calls a halt to fireworks finale of Chichester Festivities

Weeks of appalling weather forced the cancellation of the Chichester Festivities showpiece finale on Saturday, July 14.

Thousands were expected to attend the annual fireworks concert at Goodwood Racecourse, which was to have featured a range of tribute acts culminating in a pyrotechnical extravaganza.

Its cancellation will come as a bitter blow to the Festivities in a particularly tough year.

The fireworks concert is by far the biggest single event at the Festivities each year, and this year advance booking had been encouraging.

Chichester Festivities bosses were due to meet today (Monday) and will be issuing a statement later.
