Rainbows bring colour to Battle Market Square

BATTLE Rainbows have been out in force once again planting the Rainbow Flower Bed in Market Square.

Fifteen Rainbows enjoyed digging out last year’s colourful primulas, taking a few home to plant in their own gardens, before planting red, white and blue petunias to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The girls usually plant in June and October and it is the seventh year running the group has planted a rainbow of flowers on the site after it was offered to them by Beautiful Battle in June 2005.

Last year the bed won a Battle In Bloom award for Best All Year Round Display and hope to keep that title in 2012.

The flower bed is sponsored by Trevor Henning.

Tim Gowland, of Great Park Farm Nursery in Catsfield, has supplied the plants and compost since the first planting.
