Betty moved into the home last March along with her fellow residents of King's Haven in Pagham.

She had been a resident there since 2002.

Betty was born in Edmonton in London as one of five children.

She was an apprentice to Moores of Barnet where she made cosmetic equipment such as powder puffs and compacts.

Betty met her husband, James, before the war and they opened a factory making the same products. This was closed during the second world war because the items were classed as luxury goods.

During the war, they owned a caf and a small hotel in North Wales.

Peacetime saw Betty and her husband open a factory in Wood Green in London making rubber and plastic pants and sheets which they supplied to shops such as Mothercare and Harrods.

More factories followed and were opened in London's Southgate and Malta. Betty also had homes in Southgate and Malta.

Betty's retirement saw her live with her only daughter, Val, in 1970 where she spent her time reading, knitting and gardening.
