Raise a glass atpavilion and be‘Ale and Arty’

Bexhill Rotary Club is lining up a mouth-watering selection of real ales and ciders when it holds the Ale and Arty Festival at the De La Warr Pavilion on September 4 and 5.

By popular demand Howlin’ Blues will be headlining on the opening night of the festival on Friday 4.

The two day event will raise funds for a number of charities and good causes including St Michael’s Hospice, Bexhill Caring Community, Homecall, The 1066 Special Football Club.

Colin Stutely, from Bexhill Rotary, said: “Due to overwhelming public demand Bexhill Rotary Club have booked Howlin Blues’ to open the first session of this year’s festival.

“Bexhill based band Loose Ends are appearing at Saturday Lunchtime and we hope this session, which is from 11 am to 3 pm, will attract families as well as the serious CAMRA beer tasters who like to travel by train.

“On the Saturday evening we have music from The Chandeliers and The Deep Sea Drivers, as well as over 35 Beers and Ciders to stimulate the taste buds.”

Beers on offer this year come from a number of small craft breweries from both Sussex and as far afield as Scotland.

They include offerings from Hastings Brewery and Burning Sky brewery, at Firle, both of which are known for their complex and adventurous beers which use a variety of unusual hops and even hedgerow berries.

Breweries from north of the border include Fyne Ales and the Highland Brewing Company.

The Friday September 4 session runs from 7pm - 10.30pm and tickets are £8. There is a session on Saturday 5 from 11am - 3pm with tickets £6.50 (CAMRA members £5) and the evening session on Saturday is from 7pm - 10.30pm with tickets at £8.
