The George I period miniature brass lantern clock was made by John Butterly who is recorded as having worked in Horsham from 1714 until his death in 1729.

It will be on view at a Summer Antiques Season selling exhibition being staged by Howard Walwyn, one of London’s leading experts in fine English clocks, at his gallery on Kensington Church Street, W8, from now until June 23.

The exhibition is dedicated to two specialist areas of horology – the Lantern and the Tavern clock - and will bring together some of the rarest examples spanning the early 17th to the mid 19th century.

The Horsham Butterly clock will be among a collection of around 35 timepieces with prices ranging from from £3,000 to £100,000.
