Sunday June 30 saw Raystede celebrate their annual summer fair and it was bigger and better than ever.

With the weather staying dry and warm, the event saw record numbers of supporters coming for a fun family day out, whilst providing much needed funds to help the animals. The fair took over £30,000, for the first time and will make a big contribution to the work of the centre.

Raystede was also delighted to welcome back designer and TV presenter Linda Barker to open the fair.

Linda said: “It was my absolute pleasure to be able to come back and support Raystede for a second year. I loved hearing about the good work they have been doing for all the animals. Many of the rescue stories touched me quite profoundly. I have such admiration for the level of care and support for the animals that find their way to the centre.”

Nigel Mason, Raystede’s Chief Executive, added: “I would like to thank the thousands of visitors that came and enjoyed the fair. We are completely reliant on voluntary donations to help the animals in our care. It was great to see so many smiling faces and catch up with lots of ex Raystede dogs looking happy and loved with their new families.

“On the day visitors enjoyed being able to learn more about the work that goes on at Raystede and meet many of the animals that live here in permanent sanctuary. Harveys famous shire horses were a big hit, as were our visitors from the Sussex Police Dog Unit.

“With a children’s funfair, band, barbecue and beer tent, there was something for everyone to enjoy!”
