Re-launch ofmuch loved Ryerail line guide

The guide, created by Sussex Community Rail Partnership, promotes the Marshlink Railway from Ashford to Hastings and the attractions which can be accessed from it.

Sam Bryant from Sussex Community Rail Partnership says: “The Lineguide is back. This is the 5th version of the guide, which is always really well received and used to help people plan their journeys. This new version is extra special because it marks the 50th anniversary since Beeching tried to close the Marshlink as part of his famous Beeching Review of the Railways”.

“The guide gives details of the attractions, such as, the Winchelsea Museum and Hastings Castle. You can have a wonderful day with the guide on the railway.

“Funding Partners for the guide come from national and local organisations proving the importance of the railway in this area. ACoRP, the Association of Community Rail Partnerships supported this guide in recognition of the value of Community Rail to promoting the local economy via tourism and leisure travel by public transport.

“Long standing supporters of the guide, Hastings Borough Council and 1066 Country Marketing have again funded the design work. Whilst Kent County Council have also demonstrated their support with a grant. Sussex Community Rail Partnership works to reconnect the community with its railway.”

The Marshlink Line passes through the Brede Valley and Winchelsea on its way to Rye.

Campaigners, such as the The Winchelsea and Three Oaks Action Group have called for more stops at the smaller rural stations such as Winchelsea.
