Reach for the skies

UP, wide and away! That's Worthing's future under the borough council's new Masterplan, designed to steer the town into a 21st-century lead in the top-town competition stakes.

We're going UP with such projects as the improved twin-towered Teville Gate redevelopment, left, and the Grafton site project.

We're going WIDE with increased seafront recreational areas, including greater maritime use and wooden decking extending from the promenade.

And the Masterplan envisages Worthing having "clusters" of key areas such as business, shopping and leisure.

The most striking, early change to Worthing's image will be the Teville Gate scheme, with its 18 and 11-storey residential blocks towering over an ambitious leisure complex including a swimming pool, multi-screen cinema, 24-lane bowling centre, restaurants, shops and cafs.
