Record cash donation

Kind-hearted Arun District Council staff have handed over £1,010 to the Chestnut Tree House hospice.

The money represents the interest on the Christmas club which many of the employees pay into.

They selected the hospice - the only one of its kind in Sussex - to receive the cash this year. It was a record amount.

Ali Unstead, the hospice's community fund raiser, said the donation continued the council's support for the good cause.

"Our aim is to open a new bed in 2008 and this donation will help greatly in achieving our goal,"she explained.
