Some 44 regional artists have been chosen for the East Sussex Open 2015 exhibition at the Towner later this year.
The exhibition will run from July 11 – September 20.
Judging this year’s applicants were guest selectors Jonathan Watkins, Director of Ikon Gallery, Birmingham and award-winning London-based video artist Saskia Olde Wolbers, along with Towner Executive Director Emma Morris.
They selected 44 artists from across the region to exhibit work from a record number of entries. There were some 342 submissions.
The artists chosen hail from all parts of East Sussex including Hailsham, Eastbourne and Seaford.
One of the artists Wycliffe Stutchbury will be creating a new art work fashioned from the damaged timber and materials from the Eastbourne Pier. He will be documenting the process of the creation of this new work.
Now in its sixth year, East Sussex Open aims to showcase the best visual artists and makers from across the East Sussex region – from Rye to Brighton and Hove. Artists will be able to exhibit and sell their original art work.
