Stuart 64, from Fairlight, passed away suddenly on 29 October whilst driving down Rye Harbour Road. He set up Rye Recovery 24 years ago.

He was well respected within the industry and described as a ‘legend’.

He was also a dedicated member of the Pett Rescue Lifeboat and single handedly built the launch vehicle for the lifeboat.

Crew-members performed the guard of honour as his casket was taken into the Chapel. The family hope to raise a significant amount of money in donations.

The chapel was packed with people paying their respects and his grandchildren dressed as Batman and Robin to honour their ‘real life super hero granddad’.
