Recreation ground could get crossing

A NEW crossing has been proposed to help pedestrians reach a popular open space in Rose Green.

The puffin crossing is set to be installed on Nyetimber Lane opposite the footpath which leads to Valentine Gardens.

West Sussex County Council has been consulting about the installation. The closing date is today. A council spokesman said the recreation ground’s use had prompted the need for the crossing.

“A crossing at this location will also provide a safe route for people accessing the amenities in the park and provide a safe crossing point for local residents.

“The crossing will be 3.2m wide and will incorporate dropped kerbs and tactile paving. There will be two poles used with bleeper units,” he said.

The crossing was included in the council’s works programme for 2015/16 by the joint western Arun area committee.
