Hailsham In Bloom has announced that it will play host to a special Recycled Fashion Show at the Hailsham Pavilion this June, the latest in the string of community-inspired events organised by this busy Town Council committee this year.
The fashion extravaganza, sponsored by Tesco and raising funds for future Hailsham In Bloom environmental projects, will showcase a number of recycled outfits created by students of Hailsham Community College and other participating local schools.
The aim of the project is to demonstrate that fun and fashion can be combined with practical solutions to recycle, upcycle or redesign unwanted clothing into something new. This in turn can help people save money and the environment, and realise that eco-friendly clothing can be as desirable and fashionable as brand new garments from a high street store.
A Hailsham In Bloom spokesperson said, “This extravaganza promises to be a thoroughly enjoyable event for all concerned, full of original ideas and effective use of recycled materials to create some stunning outfits.”
“The Recycled Fashion Show will demonstrate very effectively how people can be at the height of fashion by embracing ethical and eco-friendly fashion without great expense - and reduce waste at the same time. The event will also challenge amateur designers to craft fashion from landfill-bound clothing and materials.”
Further information on the Recycled Fashion Show, including ticket prices and start times will be announced on the Hailsham In Bloom website in the coming weeks: www.hailshaminbloom.org.
