Recycled glad rags

STUDENTS from East Sussex took to the catwalk on Tuesday to model their own designs, created from recycled scraps of material.

The students from four schools had earlier transformed rubbish into fashion in a series of workshops.

They then came together to show off their designs in a fashion show at The Old Market Theatre in Brighton.

The fashion show was the culmination of a county campaign to reduce, re-use and recycle rubbish.

Year eight students, aged 12 and 13, from Tideway School in Newhaven and Chailey School were among those to take up the challenge.

Councillor Matthew Lock, county member for environment, said: 'The fashion show was an excellent example of how we can re-use rubbish if we think creatively.'
