Recycling service to be rolled out across Rother from June

The new contract, which Rother District Council says will provide better value for money for taxpayers, will be introduced across the district gradually from Monday June 30.

Over the next few weeks, information about Rother’s new service will be dropping on doormats across the district, including details of when changes will come into effect in each area.

Representatives from the council, wearing ID badges, will also be visiting homes in some areas of the district to ensure that residents are aware of the changes.

Tony Leonard, executive director of business operations, said: “The changes being implemented are for the better.

“Not only will Rother District Council be saving money, but residents will receive a better service with more opportunity to recycle.

“We want to make sure that every resident in the district is aware of the changes ready for the start of the new service and this first leaflet will start the process of giving residents all the information they need.”

The new service will include kerbside collection of glass jars and bottles, as well as cardboard, paper, plastic bottles, tins and Tetra-Paks.

Some residents will see a change to the day of their waste and recycling collections, but will be given plenty of notice.

Residents are also being offered the chance to sign up for garden waste collections, costing £25 a year.
