Red car mystery in burglary haul find

A HAUL of stolen property including jewellery and porcelain figures has been discovered in Collington Lane West.

At five in the morning last Friday police recovered a suitcase and an old black bag. They say the contents are obviously the proceeds of a burglary. But no victim has come forward and so it is possible that attacked premises are insecure and undiscovered.

Property, which also includes bottles of spirits and silverware, is being held at Bexhill police station awaiting forensic examination.

A red car approached the scene as the property was being recovered. When the driver spotted police officers he made off at speed. Officers with a police dog made an extensive search.

PC Ian Riches says police are particularly interested in the car and driver "whose behaviour suggests he was either directly or indirectly involved in the burglary."

PC Riches would like to hear from anyone living nearby or who had information about the incident to contact him at Bexhill police station on 0845 6070999.
