The store initially set themselves a target to raise 1,250 for Comic Relief, but with the final amount still to to be ascertained , Kevin said they had well exceeded that target and had already raised over 2,000.

Sainsbury's is the main corporate sponsor of Comic Relief and despite the country being in the throws of a recession local people were still generously supporting the event.

Kevin said: "Our customers have been fantastic, and despite things being tight it's nice to see people are still prepared to help others who are worse off than themselves."
