Red Nose Day at Charters Ancaster

The children of Charters Ancaster Nursery and Preparatory school had non-stop fun on Red Nose Day.

In the nursery there was a crazy hair day with both children and teachers arriving with multicoloured and spiky hair.

The youngsters in the main school decided they would all make a donation if they did not have to wear their uniform for the day and could come to school dressed in various shades of red. Cake and biscuit making with a red theme was a favourite activity during the day and collections took place throughout the school.

The main event was the creation of the words "Charters Ancaster" in 1p and 2p pieces.

Mrs Elizabeth Stone, head of key stage 2 commented: "Children from all of the classes took turns to lay the coins out. The original intention was to write the school name in 10 inch high letters but the children and staff collected so many coins that they were able to complete the letters, many of which were four, five or more coins deep, add a thick border, spell out RED NOSE DAY and even add a few funny faces.

"Well done to everyone we know we have close to 100 from the collections and I think we will still be counting the buckets of pennies next week."
