Red Nose Day performance by Oliver

Watch out for violin talent Oliver March on Red Nose Day - he will be busking outside Sainsbury's for Comic Relief.

He will be playing a selection of favourite music including movie theme tunes and songs such as Over the Rainbow outside the store after school - the 11 year old is a pupil at St Richard's Catholic College.

It's not the first time he has used his violin to raise money for charity - he collected 230 when he performed in aid of St Michael's Hospice and so far he has achieved a total of 450 for different causes.

Oliver, of Terminus Avenue, has been learning violin as well as piano for five years and enjoyed great success at Hastings Music Festival where he won the violin solo class for age 11 under 13, and also Bach piano class age under 12.

As one of the Festival winners he has been chosen to perform in the Spectacular Show next week which will feature the "best of the best", according to proud mother Debs.

She said: "There will be a presentation of special awards at the concert, and Oliver has won the cup for performer considered to show the most musical promise in the string section.

"So he will play again on that big stage - he is very excited about it."

Oliver is already considering a career in music as Debs commented: "I don't think he can see himself at the moment pursuing anything else. He is playing at festivals and doing well up against other children - he is winning because he is so musical, so technical, and he is totally in the music because he's so good.

"It is quite hard work - but he actually likes to get up and do it."
