Remembering Rye’s fallen

Veterans, standard bearers and cadets held a parade from the High Street to St Mary’s Church, which was led by Neal East, chairman of Rye Royal British Legion (RBL), and marshalled by RBL president, Colonel Anthony Kimber.

More than 550 people attended the service at the church.

Outside at the memorial, wreaths were laid by numerous national and local organisations and young people from schools and youth organisations.

Afterwards at a lunch held by Rye RBL at the Riverhaven Hotel, a RBL certificate was awarded to Michel Duvoisin by the mayor, Bernardine Fiddimore for his bugling of The Last Post and Reveille at seven Remembrance ceremonies.

Poppy Appeal organiser Elizabeth Kimber was given flowers for her work organising the fundraising effort for the third year. Kate Rogers sang three moving songs including Bring him home.
