Reminder about Bognor Regis jubilee street parties

RESIDENTS around Bognor Regis have less than three weeks to register their Queen's Diamond Jubilee street parties.

The deadline to apply to Arun District Council for permission to hold a small celebration for others who live in the same road is Tuesday, May 1.

Norman Dingemans, the council’s cabinet member for economic and cultural development, said: “I’d like to encourage all residents to mark this very special weekend, whether it is be holding a street party or by attending a public event.

“It is truly an historic occasion. The only other British monarch to have celebrated 60 years reign was Queen Victoria in 1897.”

The council had tried to make it as easy as possible to hold street parties, he said. Details can be found at www.arun.gov.uk/jubilee

The extended diamond jubilee weekend will see a Big Lunch in Hotham Park on June 3 and the seafront beacon lit on June 4.
