"Report it" plea as police tackle day-time burglaries

DETECTIVES investigating a spate of mainly day-time burglaries in Bexhill are appealing to the public to report suspicious activity immediately.

Detective Inspector Owen Poplett, head of Rother CID, told the Observer: "We have had a series of six day-time burglaries in Bexhill in quick succession.

"We are asking people to be particularly vigilant and if they see anyone around premises who they don;t recognise in connection with the premises to contact the police immediately."

*Pictures were stolen when a property in High Street, Old Town, was burgled between 5am on Thursday, February 7 and 8am on Wednesday, February 13.

*Cash and an Ipod were stolen when a property at Broadoak Lane was burgled between 10am and 7.45pm on Wednesday, February 13.

*A cooker still in its packaging was stolen when a property in Magdalen Road was burgled between 5.30pm on Tuesday, February 12 and 7.30am on Wednesday, February 13.

*Cash and an ornament were stolen when a property at Newlands Avenue was burgled between 8am and 3.30pm on Wednesday, February 13.
