Black German Shepherd Storm was saved last week by the RNLI lifeboat team who plucked him from the waves nearly a mile off shore.

Hastings lifeboat coxswain Steve Warne, who got into the water to help hoist Storm into the lifeboat, said he could not be happier to see him fully recovered.

“It was a pleasure to welcome both Storm and his owners back to the lifeboat station,” he said.

“It was also great to see him apparently fully recovered from his ordeal.

“We all know that the RNLI exists to save lives at sea, well last week that life was Storm’s, and I for one couldn’t be happier.”

Storm ran into the sea chasing seagulls but then become disorientated and kept swimming away from the shore.

It was thanks to the public’s swift reporting of Storm’s dilemma and the eagle-eyed volunteer lifeboat crew that he was spotted slipping below the waves and plucked to safety just in time.
