Residents blighted by two years of scaffolding erect banner

It's a milestone that the residents of this building on Portland Road would rather not celebrate.

But to mark the second year of scaffolding standing outside their homes, they erected a banner expressing their annoyance. Neighbour Steve Terry said: “I feel sorry for the people living there. To have this outside your window must be annoying.

“It’s just got to the point where some people are fed up as scaffolding is generally up for a fairly short time while work is carried out.”

A spokesperson for Worthing Borough Council said: “The Council were advised that there have been significant structural issues, which led to concern over the preservation of the building’s exterior.

“As a result of ongoing discussions with the freeholder, we have been assured that works to secure the structure are due to start imminently. Once completed, the scaffolding will be removed.”
