On social media site Streetlife dozens of residents have spoken of their desire for the German retailer to move to the town.

Residents have campaigned directly to Lidl, with the site home to the former Dreams store, in foundry Lane, being labelled the ‘perfect’ location for a new store.

One woman said: “Old Dreams site would be the perfect site for Lidl or Aldi.

“I have contacted Lidl direct to put our case for a Lidl here in Horsham and you never know they may reply positively.”

She later had a response saying her comments would be passed on to the company’s property team.

Another resident said: “I have sent an email to HDC asking what their plans are for the “Dreams” site in Foundry Lane and whether it is up for tender!

“I have also contacted the Director of Lidl to consider opening a store in Horsham!”

In July 2015 there was talk the retailer was planning on opening a store at the former Dreams site. However, when approached by the County Times it denied the rumours and said it could not confirm a move to the town.
