RESIDENTS CELEBRATE CENTURY

A STREET party with an Edwardian flavour marked the centenary of homes in Highdown Avenue area of Worthing on Saturday when residents celebrated in distinctive style, with a late afternoon shower failing to dampen enthusiasm.

Organised by Becket Residents' Association, the event demonstrated the closeness of the community as more than 250 turned out to to enjoy stalls, races, games, dancing, entertainers, music and a Hog roast.

The scene was set by members of the organising committee turning out in Edwardian dress and the event was opened by Mayor Heather Mercer, who stayed to enjoy the fun.
