Police are investigating several incidents in which the tyres of cars parked in Langton Road and Becket Road, in Worthing, were slashed and punctured overnight between last Wednesday night and Thursday morning.

The damage amounts to several hundreds of pounds, and in some cases appears to have been caused using a dart or similar pointed instrument.

Michaela Wheatley, 27, of Langton Road, woke up to find all four of the tyres on her Skoda Fabia had been slashed. All four tyres had to be replaced at a cost of £260.

She said: “I’m a nurse at the hospital. We’re not made of money. I had a car seat in the car, they had no regard that I had a child.

“Luckily it was my day off but it could have affected me going to work and things. I didn’t hear anything but we are on the second floor. I don’t think they care that much.

“They have made an effort to go all the way around the cars. The guys who changed my tyres said they have been stabbed. My friend was concerned these people had a knife.”

According to Miss Wheatley, a mother-of-one, at least six cars had been vandalised.
