Crowborough has woken up to sleet and snow this morning (Sunday, April 24).
Residents in the town took to social media to express their surprise at finding a light, white covering on the streets outside in the middle of Spring.
Denise Rogers (@denyofiniquity) wrote: “Just heard from MIL that the well know Arctic outpost Ice Station Crowborough has had a flurry of snow! #uksnow #TN6 #snow #weather.”
Guest Shoe Services (@GuestShoes) wrote: “There’s some white stuff falling out of the sky in Crowborough - who wants any snow sandals?”
The Met Office says temperatures dropped below 3C in the early hours of this morning.
Today is expected to reach a high of 7C in the town, but overnight temperatures are forecast to be slightly warmer than last night at around 5C.
