People living in the Battle, Netherfield and Telham parish are being asked to give their views for the emerging neighbourhood plan.

“It is the beginning of the Battle neighbourhood plan steering group’s promise, resulting from the latest gathering on January 20, to involve, not only our residents, but also the wider community who work and visit, in the process of mapping out our path to a successful future for our parish”, said publicity officer Maurice Holmes.

“Our aim is to use the anonymous participant information returned in the survey, to formulate a series of ideas, aspirations and pledges.”

These will affect all areas of the community – from traffic in the town centre to the paths people walk for their leisure.

The steering group has already run a ‘substantial number’ of survey pilots to allow a wide cross-section of the community to air their views.

Mr Holmes said the results confirmed it is in a format which makes it ‘easy to complete and return’.

Some sections in the survey allow people to say where they believe improvements could be made to the way residents live.

The outcomes of the pilot surveys have been stored for use when all the responses are received.

There will be further public consultation prior to any decisions being taken.

“The thoughts of the community matter”, said Mr Holmes.

“Therefore, the more support we receive through the survey returns, either by hand, post or online, the more representative it will be of where you, the community, see us going in the future”, said Mr Holmes.
