The future of Pine Grove, Crowborough, could be decided by townspeople.
The choice is stark; does the community stump up an 18 per cent council tax hike or should buildings be demolished and extra care facilities built? Crowborough Community Association has been vocal – and enthuastically backed – in pursuit of retaining Pine Grove as an enterprise centre and business hub.
Now people can have their say with this month’s public consultation launched by the town council. A leaflet will be delivered to everyone from next week describing plans for Pine Grove and how much it would cost taxpayers. Drop in sessions will also be held. People will be asked which scheme they support. Closing date for returning documents or replying online is April 8. If the verdict is overwhelmingly ‘yes’ for the hub then the council will apply for a loan from the Public Works Loan Board. They must prove they have consulted local people.
