Kevin Sappleton will open Bready’s Delights in Seaside Road on Saturday (September 8).

The food van, which provided Kevin’s livelihood, was a write off after the fire swept through it destroying the roof and equipment and all the food inside in Hove in June. The chef said it was a devastating blow as he had been building up his business over the year successfully trading at events including Notting Hill Festival and Eastbourne Pride. Loyal friends and customers rallied round and a fundraising page quickly raised hundreds of pounds. Building on his following and the continued support of the local business community Kevin was able to take over the lease of the restaurant in Seaside Road.

He said, “I can say that Bready’s Delights really has risen from the ashes. My restaurant is here to bring the taste of Jamaica to the people of Eastbourne.”
