Reward card launched for Midhurst shoppers

Traders in Midhurst have launched their own reward card offering special incentives to their shoppers.

The aim of the new initiative, which is led by the town’s businesses, is to give a boost to the trade in Midhurst.

Nineteen businesses have signed up to the scheme, which encourages people to shop locally.

And it is hoped more will follow.

“The reward card is a real boost to Midhurst and will hopefully encourage residents, and visitors, to shop here,” said Neville Sparks, owner of Wine Etcetera.

“Each time someone spends money with a business that has signed up to the scheme, they will receive points.

When they gain a certain amount of points, they will receive a discount on their next purchase from that business.”

The beauty of the scheme, say traders, is shoppers will only need to use one card in all the stores, as it will keep points spent in each store separate.

Details of the businesses taking part and their offers can be found on the Midhurst reward card website at www.midhurstfirst.co.uk

Future promotions by participating businesses can also be found on the website.

David Stanton, owner of Seven Fish, said: “This is a great opportunity for people to find Christmas presents, enjoy a Christmas meal or drink with friends and family, purchase tasty treats, and earn rewards.

“We will have special offers in the run-up to Christmas as well, so keep an eye on our website and in store.”

Tomorrow and Saturday, traders will be offering double points on everything bought in their shops.

Offers differ between businesses. Some are giving one point for every £1 spent, and 100 points gives you £5 off your next purchase.

The businesses involved include cafés, restaurants and pubs, gift shops, a health food shop, hairdressers, clothing shops, print designers, butchers, motoring needs, a bakery, jewellers, DVD shop and wine shop.

Melanie Burgoyne, rural towns co-ordinator at Chichester District Council, said: “Midhurst traders have worked really hard to get this project off the ground, and we are really pleased to be supporting them.

“Midhurst is one of the many hidden gems in the district and we want residents and visitors to use this opportunity to rediscover the shopping delights located here.”

Cards cost £5 and are available from all participating stores and the website.

Leaflets are also available detailing the current offers and businesses taking part.
