ROTARIANS are offering a reward for information leading to the arrest of whoever stole the Heathfield town sign.

The distictive wrought-iron sign, valued at 1,500, has been missing since October. It depicts the old woman who releases the first cuckoo of spring at Heffle Fair.

Members of the local Rotary Club, who donated the sign to the town, are working with police in a bid to catch the offenders. They are offering 50 to anyone who can provide information that will help to secure an arrest.

Responding to an earlier appeal in the Sussex Express, a Heathfield resident contacted police to say she had seen the sign near recycling bins, close to where it used to stand.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious around the town sign early in October is being urged to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
