JUMBLE SALE: There will be a jumble sale tomorrow (Saturday) in the village hall at 2pm. Donations of jumble can be received at the hall between 10am and 11am on the day. Come along and pick up a bargain.

FOOTBALL AND SOCIAL CLUB: Tomorrow, Saturday, the first team are back in league action with an away trip to Storrington. The reserves are at home to Chichester with a 3pm kick-off at The Caburn. The third team play Keymer and Hassocks with a 2pm kick-off at the Convent Field in Lewes. On Sunday the under 18s are away to Roffey with an 11am kick-off time. On Tuesday evening the first team are at home to Shoreham in the Sussex Senior Cup competition with a 7.45pm kick-off at the Caburn. On Thursday evening in the clubhouse bar the regular monthly general knowledge quiz takes place, 7.30pm for a prompt 8pm start to the quiz and all are welcome. Teams of up to four and just £1 per person to enter.

ST MARY’S: St Mary’s marks the Harvest this Sunday with a lively service of celebration, great for all the family. Gifts of non-perishable items are welcome to be donated to Family Support Work in Sussex. Financial gifts will go to the Royal Benevolent Institution and the East Sussex Farmers Union Benevolent Fund. On Tuesday, our toddler group will also celebrate the Harvest at Mostly Mums from 9.30am to 11am. Parents and grandparents with pre-school children are welcome to pop in for coffee and a chat whilst the children explore the church and have some fun. A date for your diary: Holiday Club returns this October holiday. Running on Thursday and Friday, October 27 and 28, this promises to be an action-packed club for all primary school aged children. There will be plenty of games, craft, games, food, games and activities for all. The club will be open from 9am to 5pm to assist working parents but early collections will be possible. There will also be a final afternoon session of celebration in the church. We encourage you to come and see what we get up to at St Mary’s.

BAPTIST CHURCH: Regular Services in the village hall: Sundays at 10.30am and 6pm. Communion usually celebrated on second Sunday (morning) and fourth Sunday (evening) each month. Sunday and Youth Clubs available. Fellowship Harvest Lunch this Sunday at 12.45pm with presentation by Tony Lamb of the Brighton and Hove City Mission at 2.30pm. Advance notice for the South Eastern Baptist Association 2016 Celebration at Hawth Theatre, Crawley on October 9 at 4pm, speaker Derek Tidball. Located in the village hall (Rogers Room) it is available to individuals and families referred to us by local welfare organisations. COUNTRY MARKET: At the Country Market which takes place each Tuesday in the village hall, 10am to 11am, we are introducing one or two new craft stalls. Please come and see what they have to offer. These are in addition to the regular producers who sell a selection of homemade sweet and savoury items as well as plants and garden produce in season. We also have attractive handmade greetings cards to suit most occasions as well as preserves, local honey and free range eggs. Special diets can be catered for and items may be ordered in advance and collected when the market is open.

WI: At our last meeting we heard about The Lost Industries of Lewes. The next meeting is on October 4 at 7.30pm in the village hall when the speaker will be Michaele Wynn-Jones and her subject Colour Me Gorgeous. The Castle Group meeting is on Wednesday October 26 in Ripe, tickets on sale at our next meeting.

FLOWER CLUB: At our meeting in the village hall on Wednesday at 2pm there will be a demonstration of flower arranging by Sussex Area NAFAS demonstrator, Gill Homer, entitled Creative Thinking. The title of the competition is Innovation. Visitors are always made very welcome for a small admission fee of £4 to include refreshments.

BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday September 21, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Deirdre Booth and Tony Wing; 2, Alan Disney and Roy Skan; 3, Frank Hibbert and George Montgomery. The club next meets in the St Mary’s room of the village hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. 814220.

NEARLY NEW SALE: Ringmer Tiddlers and Toddlers playgroup are holding a Nearly New Sale on Saturday October 8 in Ringmer Village Hall from 10.30am to 12.30pm. We are selling children’s clothes and equipment age 0 to 5 years including pushchairs, cots, highchairs, clothes, books, DVDs, toys and maternity clothes. Everything you need when having, raising or minding a little one. Tea and cakes also available, please come along and support our group. £1 entrance per family.
