BAPTIST CHURCH: Regular services in the village hall: Sundays at 10.30am and 6pm. Communion usually celebrated on second Sunday (morning) and fourth Sunday (evening) each month. Sunday and Youth Clubs available. Come along to our Messy Church this Sunday at 2pm in Ringmer Village Hall for a fun time for all the family with crafts, games and songs. This is followed at 4pm by our Outdoor Praise service, with Barbeque, (at 5pm). Why not come along and join with us singing songs and listening to testimonies. The Ringmer Food Bank, run by Ringmer Baptist Church, is open every Monday from 1.30pm to 2.30pm. Located in the village hall (Rogers Room) it is available to individuals and families referred to us by local welfare organisations. ST MARY’S: A new face at St Mary’s. Revd Lucy Hollingsworth was welcomed last Sunday at two special services which were attended by family and friends from Barcombe, Newick and further afield. Lucy has joined St Mary’s to serve as curate for the next four years on a part time basis and we hope she will become a familiar face for many. At the Family Service this Sunday at 10am Revd Lucy will be exploring the idea of Welcome. All are indeed welcome for this informal service. Also on Sunday, 8am Holy Communion service and 6.30pm Parish Eucharist. On Tuesday, Mostly Mums meets in St Marys from 9.30am to 11am. This friendly group welcomes all pre-schoolers and their families to come and explore the church, sing some songs and do some crafts or drawing. Refreshments provided. St Mary’s was pleased to give each of the primary school children a special schools edition of The Servant Queen at the recent Street Party organised to celebrate the Queen’s birthday.

FLOWER CLUB: Ringmer Flower Club will meet in the village hall at 2pm on Wednesday for a demonstration by Pat MacDonald entitled Walking the Dog. Visitors are very welcome to come along to enjoy a relaxing afternoon (£4 to include refreshments). The competition for members is A Walk in the Park.

BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday June 22, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Jenny Charman and Michael Slot; 2, Joan Evett and Sandra Dudley; 3, Liz and Tim Owen. The club next meets in the St Mary’s room of the village hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Contact 814220.

CRICKET CLUB: Newick Vs Ringmer. Newick captain Scott Warren won a very important toss on a sticky wicket and chose to bowl first, Ringmer struggled from the outset in the difficult conditions. Murray Barnett top scored with 30 and Ringmer finished on 99 all out after 47.3 overs, Matt Sawyer and Joe Waylett were the highlight of the Newick bowling attack, taking 4 wickets each. Ringmer were determined to make it hard for Newick, however Newick started quickly. Ringmer captain Andy Smith then gave the ball to Murray Barnett who challenged the Newick batsmen with fantastic figures of 15 overs for 14 runs and taking three wickets, Ryan Packham also took two wickets. Newick eventually passed Ringmers 99 and won the game with Scott Warren top scoring.

Ringmer II Vs Keymer and Hassocks II. Ringmer captain Ray Russell won the toss and decided to bowl first, Keymer and Hassocks struggled from the outset with Ringmer pace bowler Tom Welch hitting fantastic lengths, he finished with six wickets and Keymer and Hassocks were bowled out for 91 off of 41.1 overs. Ringmer chased the runs down successfully, captain Ray Russell top scoring with an incredibly slow 16 off of 70 balls, before he was ran out by Anthony Brooke. The highlight of the bowlers for Keymer and Hassocks was Justin Troussaint, who picked up two wickets as Ringmer walked away with 30 points.

Kerala Strikers Sports Club Vs Ringmer III. Ringmer batted first and completed all 50 overs managing a total of 138, opener Bob Page scored 73* facing the first and last ball of the Ringmer innings. Kerala’s bowlers shared the wickets with most of them taking a wicket each. Kerala then showed their class with the bat as they chased down Ringmer’s total off 23.4 overs. Dominic Lyons was still suffering from a boxing injury but was the highlight of the bowlers for Ringmer as he took two wickets. Kerala walked away with the maximum 30 points and Ringmer collected seven points.

COUNTY MARKET: Please remember the Country Market each Tuesday in the village hall from 10am to 11am where you can buy fresh fruit and vegetables in season and a selection of homemade cakes (including gluten free), savoury dishes and preserves. There are also plants, eggs, handmade greetings cards and other craft items. Orders can be taken if you have a particular requirement and tea and coffee are always available.

FOOTBALL AND SOCIAL CLUB: The club’s Annual General Meeting will take place on Thursday July 21 at the Caburn Pavilion. Registration is from 7.30pm for a prompt 8pm start. The meeting will include an update on the proposed relocation and all fully paid-up members are invited to attend. Due to a clash with the Euros semi-finals, the regular monthly quiz has been postponed by one week to Thursday July 14.
