BOOK SALE: Don’t forget Bob’s Great Big Book and DVD Sale in the Scout HQ at 10am until 12.30pm tomorrow (Saturday), in aid of St Peter and St James’ Hospice. All books and DVDs 50p. Entrance £1 which includes tea or coffee. There will also be a raffle.

ST MARY’S: Good Friday Act of Witness at the shopping precinct 9.15am; noon to 3pm Devotion (come for all or any of the 30 minute sessions); tomorrow, Saturday, the Easter Garden will be planted at noon; all helpers rewarded with hot cross buns and hot chocolate. Also tomorrow, Saturday, 7.30pm an Easter Vigil. Easter Day celebrations start at 7.45am to greet the Easter morning and the 10am service will include the cross of flowers (bring a flower) and a ‘joyful’ noise (bring something noisy). There will be an evensong at 6.30pm. On Monday and after the busy celebration, the Circle of Quiet takes place at 7.30pm, an opportunity to be still with God. Advance notice, the next Shine on Saturday for primary school children takes place on April 2 and we shall be feeding the five thousand.

BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday March 16, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Joan Evett and Sandra Dudley-Williams; 2, Deirdre Booth and Tony Wing; 3, Barrie Smith and Alan Grindley. WI: Do you know the difference between Art Nouveau and Art Deco? After listening to the fascinating illustrated talk by Ian Gledhill at the March meeting, Ringmer WI members are now much more knowledgeable. The members who enjoy theatre visits have been treated to two very different performances recently, first at the Ringmer Dramatic Society’s two one act comedies and then the more serious Lewes Little Theatre production of The Elephant Man. Plans are well underway for the WI’s Spring Fair being held this year on Saturday April 23rd in the Village Hall from 10am to 12.30pm. Members are busy making, baking and collecting goods for a great range of stalls, please join us for a cup of coffee and a bargain. At our meeting on April 5, Dr Mick Lynn will talk about Gardening for Bees. The WI has been supporting campaigns to protect bees for a number of years and are keen to learn more about how they can help. Visitors and new members are welcome to join us.

CAR PARK: Advance notice that the car park behind the shops in Springett Avenue will be closed to all vehicles for white lining on Monday April 4 from 8am to 6pm.
