PRIMARY SCHOOL: Ringmer Primary PTA are celebrating the opening of their new building with a fabulous firework display tonight (Friday). There will be a licensed bar and cooked food. Tickets priced at £10 for a family of four or adult £3.50, child £2.50. No unaccompanied children will be admitted. Please note all tickets on the night will incur a £1 surcharge. JUMBLE SALE: Tomorrow (Saturday) in the village hall. Doors open at 2pm. Please bring any donations of jumble to the hall between 10am and 11am on the morning.

FOOTBALL CLUB: Tomorrow, Saturday, the first team are away to Crawley Down Gatwick in a SCFL Div 1 fixture, the reserve team are at home to Seaford Town with a 3pm kick-off at the Caburn. The thirds also have a home fixture versus Keymer and Hassocks and their game will be played on the Convent Field pitch in Lewes with a 2pm kick-off time. The youth team are at home on Sunday when they play Seaford under 18s at the Caburn with an 11am kick-off. On Thursday evening the regular monthly fun trivia quiz takes place in the bar of the Pavilion. Teams of up to four, just £1 per person and start time is 7.30pm for a prompt 8pm start to the quiz. All are welcome, bring a team or join one on the night.

ST MARY’S: Services this Sunday: 8am Holy Communion, 10am Eucharist for Lent, 6.30pm Evensong. Parish Magazine: Ringmer Church and Village News is an excellent way to keep up with local news, available from various outlets including the church. It costs 45p or £5 per year (delivered to your door). Mostly Mums meets on Tuesday, 9.30am to 11am in church. Fun and friendship for parents, grandparents, carers and their toddlers. Shine on Saturday, St Mary’s club for primary school children is open once again on Saturday March 5, 10am to noon. The story this month is all about the wise man and the foolish man. Mothering Sunday at St Mary’s: the Family Service on Sunday March 6 starts at 10am and it is hoped to be a wonderful celebration of mothers.

COUNTRY MARKET: The Country Market takes place each Tuesday from 10am to 11am in the village hall. We still have a selection of winter vegetables for sale as well as homemade sweet and savoury goods (including gluten free cakes), preserves, ready meals and bread. We sell genuine free range eggs and a variety of attractive craft items. Tea and coffee are available and an opportunity to sit down after you have made your purchases.

FLOWER CLUB: Ringmer Flower Club meets in the village hall at 2pm on Wednesday when Angela Merryfield will be giving a demonstration entitled Curtain Up. Visitors (£4 to include refreshments) and new members will be made very welcome.

BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday February 17, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Alan Disney and Roy Skan; joint 2, Joan Evett and Sanda Dudley-Williams, Barrie Smith and Alan Grindley. The club next meets in the St Mary’s room of the village hall on Wednesday at 7.30pm. Contact 814220.

WI: The speaker wore spurs. Ann Chance wore all the appropriate clothes to go with her talk Saddle Sore in Montana. She had invited the audience to come in similar style and most did, though the pink Stetson hats were hardly like those worn by cowboys. She gave an inspirational talk about how she leaned to ride at the age of 62 and then went out to ride with the cowboys in Montana. The next meeting is on March 1 at 7.30pm in the village hall when the speaker is Ian Gledhill and his subject is Art Deco. Visitors and new members welcome

ELIZABETH CHEYNEY CHARITY: A vacancy has arisen in one of the two Almshouses of this charity. Older members of the community of Ringmer Parish are eligible for appointment. Application for appointment must be made in writing to the Clerk to the Trustees, Elizabeth Cheyney Charity Trust, Bethany, 25 Ballard Drive, Ringmer, Lewes BN8 5NU. Applicants must state name, address, telephone number, age and occupation. They should be prepared, unless physically disabled, to attend in person. 
They may be required to supply evidence of qualification for appointment. Residents may be required to contribute a weekly sum towards the cost of maintaining the Almshouses of the charity and the services provided. Closing date for applications March 31.
