FOOTBALL AND SOCIAL CLUB: Tomorrow, Saturday, the first team are at home to Steyning Town, weather permitting. Kick off time at the Caburn is 3pm as usual. Currently the seconds have no fixture on Saturday and on Monday the thirds are at home to Fairwarp seconds with a 7.30pm kick-off at the Caburn. On the social side, the next regular monthly quiz will be on Thursday February 4.

ST MARY’S: A reminder that the morning worship at St Mary’s now begins at 10am. This is preceded by 8am Holy Communion every Sunday. This Sunday, we join with the Baptist Church to mark the week of prayer for Christian Unity at 6pm in the village hall. On Sunday January 31 the Taize Service is Opening Doors – a quiet, meditative time in our candlelit church at 6.30pm.

BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday January 13, the result of the duplicate pairs played was: 1, Alan Disney and Roy Skan; 2, Liz and Tim Owen; 3, Barrie Smith and Alan Grindley. Please don’t forget that the AGM on Wednesday starts at 7pm in the St Mary’s room of the village hall. Contact 814220.

COFFEE MORNING: On Saturday January 30, there will be a Posh Coffee Morning, in the Church Room at St Mary’s Church 10am to noon, in aid of The Leprosy Mission. Bring and buy, cake stall and cards will also be available.

SINGALONG: This restarted on Wednesday, January 13, at the Church Room, St Mary’s. We meet every Wednesday, except the first of each month, and carry on until the end of April. We have a summer break and then return in September. Come and join us if you enjoy singing, any age, male and female, and give it a try. We sing a wide variety of songs. RAMBLERS: For our first walk of the New Year we met as usual at 10am behind the village shops and drove down to Seaford. After admiring the wonderful views of snow covered downs, we enjoyed an exhilarating walk along the promenade and down to Tide Mills. The return journey along the old railway track and beach was a chilly one as we were walking into the wind. It was a good job that some members had fortified themselves with hot coffee and buns midway. The next walk will be on Sunday January 31 around Hove and Brighton. WI: At the January Meeting WI members celebrated the 48th birthday of Ringmer Evening WI and the 95th anniversary of a WI in Ringmer. Members enjoyed a delicious bring and share buffet and then President Teresa Keen cut the beautifully decorated birthday cake. This was followed by a Beetle drive, many members remembered playing Beetle as children and soon got the hang of the scoring for legs and eyes.

The next meeting is on February 2 at 7.30pm in the village hall when the speaker is Ann Chance OBE and her subject is Saddle Sore in Montana. To get her audience warmed up she has invited all to come in appropriate clothes, Stetson hats and check shirts, though this is not compulsory. Visitors and new members welcome.
