HISTORY STUDY GROUP: This evening's (Friday) talk, at 7.45pm in the Village Hall, will be given by the popular speaker, Ian Everest. His topic for tonight is a talk entitled '˜Tales from the Riverbank: a glimpse of past life in the River Ouse valley'. There should be something for everyone as areas of interest will include the agricultural, industrial, aviation, sporting and artistic heritage of the area.

COFFEE MORNING: Ringmer Disability Social Club Coffee Morning is tomorrow, Saturday, between 10 am and 12 noon in the Village Hall. Apart from a good cup of coffee or tea and a biscuit, we will have some stalls including for cakes, tombola, treasure hunt and of course a raffle. All money raised will go towards the club. Please support us.

BAPTIST CHURCH: Regular Services in the Village Hall: Sundays at 10.30am and 6.00pm. Communion usually celebrated on second Sunday (morning) and fourth Sunday (evening) each month. Sunday & Youth Clubs available. Come along to our Tea & Teaching evening service this Sunday (22/05). We have Tea at 5.00pm followed by the eighth DVD at 6.00pm in J. John’s series 10 Commandments for Everyone. All welcome to join our service in Holme Lodge Residential Home on 25 May at 2.15pm. The Ringmer Food Bank, run by Ringmer Baptist Church, is open every Monday from 1.30 to 2.30pm. Located in the Village Hall (Rogers Room) it is available to individuals and families referred to us by local welfare organisations. ST MARY’S: This Sunday is Trinity Sunday and celebrates the three Persons of God; The Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Services at 8am Holy Communion; 10am Eucharist and 6.30 Evensong. On Monday evening the Circle of Quiet meets at 7.30pm and on Tuesday 24 it is hoped that there will be an extra Men’s Club meeting at 7.30pm to hear from Graham Martin about it work in Iraq. On Wednesday, our regular mid-week Communion service takes place at 9am. The bellringers are attempting a peal on Wednesday evening with ringing from 6-9pm. On Thursday 26 there will be a Celtic Eucharist for Corpus Christi.

COUNTRY MARKET: At the Country Market which takes place in the Village Hall from 10-11am each Tuesday you can now buy English asparagus. This is grown locally as are all the vegetables on sale. There is also a selection of home made sweet and savoury items, cakes (including gluten free), ready meals, preserves, bread and local honey. Plants, hand made greetings cards, crafts and local free range eggs are also on sale and tea and coffee are always available.

BRIDGE CLUB: At its meeting on Wednesday 11th May, the result of the duplicate pairs played was 1st, Alan Disney & Roy Skan; 2nd, Frank Hibbert & George Montgomery; joint 3rd, Liz & Tim Owen and Deirdre Booth & Tony Wing. The club next meets in the St. Mary’s room of the village hall on Wednesday at 7.30 pm. Contact 814220.

QUIZ NIGHT FOR BRAIN TUMOR CHARITY: Gus Payne is attempting to summit North Africa’s 3 highest peaks this coming August, in memory of his Mum and Dad, both of whom died from a brain tumour, and to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity ( Regd. No. 1150054) which is in the forefront of the fight to defeat brain tumours. To support this, there will be a Quiz at Ringmer Village Hall on Saturday 28th May, commencing at 7pm. You are invited to form teams of up to 8 people; for tickets (£5 per person) please contact John Payne (01273812501) or Jenny McCutchan (07976535650). Cheese and biscuits, wine, soft drinks, and tea and coffee will be served, for which a donation will be invited, and there will be an auction of a small number of items during the interval.

MISH MASH MORRIS: Ever fancied giving Morris Dancing a try? Now is your chance! Mish Mash Morris is holding a workshop and if you’re aged 16 or over, we’d like to invite YOU along to have a go, free of charge. Sat 11th June 10.30-12.30pm at the Scout HQ on the Green. We have a real mix of personalities, ages, sexes, senses of humour, favourite drinks and talent and want to widen our range even further by inviting YOU to come and join us. We dance Cotswold (hankies), Border (sticks) and Molly (no sticks or hankies) so you’re bound to find something you like. It’s a fun activity, great for keeping fit and all you need are: trainer style shoes, loose clothing, an awareness of your right and left feet, a willingness to have a go and a liking for chocolate cake.
