River levels begin to return to normal

RIVERS levels are returning to their usual levels across East Sussex following yesterday's (Tuesday) flood scares.

Severe weather, including torrential rain caused rivers to swell and flood parts of the county, including Barcombe, Hempstead Mills and Hellingly.

Alfriston is still on flood warning, the second highest alert issued by the Environment Agency, but water levels are receding in the area.

Cuckmere and the Ouse are both on flood watch and the Uck has received the all clear .
