Hastings RNLI’s lifeboat received a £6,000 donation from the Sussex Youth Orchestra recently.

Representatives from the orchestra presented the cheque to lifeboat volunteers just before they went out on one of their regular night-time exercises off Hastings. The money was raised at a concert given by Sussex Youth Orchestra at the De La Warr Pavilion in Bexhill last summer.

Steve Warne, coxswain, said: “All of us here at the Hastings RNLI lifeboat are delighted to be given such a generous donation. The RNLI relies on such generosity to train our crews, to keep our boats afloat, and to help us continue our lifesaving work off the coast of Hastings and Bexhill. It is particularly heartening when such generosity comes from the local community and we’d like to say a big thank you.”
