PART of the main road between Polegate and Eastbourne will be closed southbound during the daytime for about four days for resurfacing starting on Wednesday (May 23).
The work, deemed ‘essential’, will take place between 9.30am and 4pm on the A2270 Eastbourne Road between Coopers Hill and Church Street.
County Cllr Stephen Shing said: “This is part of a major route between Eastbourne and Polegate and will cause some inconvenience to many of our residents, however the works are essential.
“This is the second phase of resurfacing work which took place last year.
“Please note that these works may be delayed in periods of wet weather and look out for the advance warning signs on site for any changes.”
District Cllr Raymond Shing said: “Northbound traffic will be unaffected; however the works section of Eastbourne Road will be closed to southbound traffic (towards Eastbourne).
“Diversions will commence from its junction with the A27 with diversion signs guiding traffic to rejoin at Cross Levels Way roundabout.”
He said southbound bus routes 1, 51, 54 and 98 will be affected between 9am and 5pm.
The 56 bus service is unaffected.
Service 51, 54, 98 southbound journeys will be diverted from Willingdon Triangle via Huggett’s Lane, Hazlewood Ave, Willingdon Park Drive and Decoy Drive resuming normal route from Kings Drive.
Service 1 towards Old Town will be diverted from Hazelwood Ave via Willingdon Park Drive and Kings Drive to resume normal route at Willingdon roundabout.
