Road closures for London to Brighton Bike Ride

The annual London to Brighton Bike Ride takes place on Sunday (June 18), with tens of thousand of riders coming in to the finish line at Madeira Drive.

The 54-mile-long charity bike ride to Brighton’s seafront raises cash for the British Heart Foundation (BHF), funding research into heart disease.

Road closures will be in place at Madeira Drive (from 6am), Coldean Lane (8am to 9pm) and Mill Road (7.30am to 9pm), with the left-hand lane of the A23 southbound open to cyclists only on Sunday, from St Peter’s Church to Brighton Sealife Centre (7.30am to 8pm).

The first riders are expected to come in by 8am, although the busiest time for finishers is between 10am to 2pm.

Brighton and Hove City Council said its car parks will be open as usual, and that London Road car park is likely to have the greatest number of spaces available on the day.

The London to Brighton Bike Ride has raised in excess of £65 million for the British Heart Foundation. Over the past 41 years more than 750,000 people have taken part.
